Originally named Republic of Ireland, after the then name for the Legoland nation, Republic are members of "The Forgotten"; those football clubs whose very existence was forgotten only to be rediscovered when written evidence of the team's existence was unearthed years later. Other clubs of The Forgotten include Castleland United and Chessland United.
Since their return to Legoland football in 1999, the club has changed its name and club crest numerous times but appears to have finally settled for Republic. The team briefly played under the names FC Eire and St Patrick's FC. For a number of seasons the team used the name Republic Telecom FC after a sponsorship deal was struck with Telecom Legoland. Republic's return to Serie A in 1999/0 saw the club finish in 13th place. The 2000/1, 2001/2, 2002/3 and 2003/4 seasons saw the club finish in 15th, 16th, 7th, 17th positions. A breakthrough in the 2004/5 season saw Republic finish in a club best 6th place but the team could not build on its progess finishing 14th in the 2005/6 campaign.
Between 2006 and 2007 the club began a process of returning to its roots and adopted its current crest and reverted to a shortned version of its original name. On the player front the club also began to sign many players from Legoland's border regions with Eland's Forest provence, the region where the club's founding players originally came from. The return to its history continued in 2008 when on the 3rd March Republic appointed Hibernius Namus as the club's president.
Republic finished the 2007/8 campaign in 7th position.
