One of the smaller teams ever to grace Serie A, Stuart Spacers have for the majority of their 15 year history languished in the second and third divisions. The 2009/10 season will be the Spacers first time in the top flight and coincidently comes at a time of increasing influence from Space culture on the Empire.
Up until 2008 Space minifigs were the fourth largest ethnic group in Legoland after the City, Castle and Pirate races yet proof that contraception is no longer used on other planets saw a population boom in 2008 that has resulted in Space minifigs now outnumbering the combined Pirates and Castle minifig populations.
Back on the football field, the Clancy Insurance Corporation's financial backing enabled the team pip Milan and Foggia for the third promotion place in the 2008/09 Serie B. Having spent the bulk of their funds on the promotion push, the Spacers had limited funds to finance a significant delve in the transfer market yet have secured the services of a number of hot prospects and seasoned veterans. Top names brought in include LFC's rising star Geoffrey Macintyre, signed on loan, former LFC and BFB striker Ariffin and Macauley Chrisantus, at £3m a club record signing from Juventus.
