A rare clean shaven Aldridge put on a brave face to the press but he could not hide his annoyance at the club's "out of the blue" decision.
Aldridge accused Marino of "acting less than courteous" explaining he had been told to cram all his belongings into two suitcases "and get the
hell out of here".

Serie A club Marino have fired long-standing coach John Aldridge after the Martimers recent dismal form left the team just 6 points above the relegation zone. Having failed to record a single win in their last 7 outings the club's owner King Edward personally intervened and gave the under-achieving Aldridge the boot. A brief statement to The Minifig Times read, "Marino FC have asked John Aldridge never to darken their door again. All applications for the managerial vacancy should be submitted to City News (replacement shopkeeper also required!)"
Aldridge has been part of the furniture at Marino this decade and his departure has surprised many, particularly as it required action by "absentee owner" King Edward. Fans of the club are understood to be pleased that the owner has recognised Aldridge's lack of ability and taken remedial action in the best interests of the team. "I'd like to thank Edward for his continued attention to detail" said Marino resident and Chief Officer at the Customs, Biggus Dickus.
Marino's on the field performance this season contrasts greatly to that of last year when the side finished in a best ever 6th position. Despite surprisingly hanging on to star player Wook-Jin You in the January transfer window the club faces a difficult run-in with tough games coming up against Roma, Legoland United, Inter Police, BFB, Ajax Skerries and Legoland FC.
Initial reports indicate that former Marino players Christophe Dugarry and Lionel Prat have expressed and interest in coaching the side as with general plebe Mark Hughes. The club is expected to formally announce a replacement in the coming week.
