Legoland FC have reacted angrily this evening after the Legoland Football Association handed down a £50,000 fine for their players' conduct during today's Serie A clash against Republic. The decision was made following a review of TV evidence the association said after a request from the match referee Devious Ethos. Mr Ethos was harangued and verbally abused by five players from the LFC team after he had handed out a yellow card to Denilson for a dangerous foul on Republic's Steve Finnan. He subsequently booked 5 other LFC players in the ensuing melee.

LFC's response to the LFA's announcement was swift with the club calling referee Ethos a "cheat" and the LFA "a bunch of clowns on leave from their circus". The remarks are quite likely to see the club further punished and many observers were surprised at LFC's rash attack on the administrators of the SuperLeague. Sports correspondent with the Minifig Times, Mr Armchairus Fanus was of the opinion that the reigning champions had probably gone too far. "A heavier fine is most probable, the association cannot have clubs' dragging their reputation through the mud."

Some are suggesting that LFC's outburst is not too surprising coming just hours after the club potentially blew their title chances with today's 1-1 stalemate at the Partizan stadium. "To not only be knocked off top spot with one game left, but to be knocked off by your most hated rivals is another thing altogther" said the Sports for Minifigs magazine journalist Sensibleus Suggestionus.

Meanwhile, the Association of Clowns has tonight claimed that being a clown is not a bad thing. "To be a clown is to have a good job" said an open letter issued by the AoC to the national press.
