Rumours from Santa Maria suggest that El Presidente is considering Fiorentina owner Ricardo Rico for a top Legañan sports award. Sources close to the Legañan president say that he wishes to improve the reputation of football in Legaña by showering Rico with the award. An aide, Ramone Asistente, told our reporters that, “Cuahchic wants to show what businessfigs in Legaña can do in helping with foreign relations. Rico’s exemplary conduct in Serie A has improved ties with Emperor David of Legoland.”

Rico and the Fiorentina players were unavailable for comment after several days celebration following their final day win over Juventus. Following Celeb’s defeat to Legoland United, Fiorentina escaped the drop by just one place. In a tough season, Rico displayed a cool head to keep Prandelli after his outburst and be a shrewd operator in the transfer windows. It is thought that the Fiorentina owner will bring in some summer replacements.

However, opposition party members were quick to denounce these actions. The award is seen as a sham to detract international attention away from the country’s internal problems. “Cuahchic wants to show the positives in Legaña and is ignoring the real issues. Unemployment, economic turmoil and the rebels still being on the loose are more pressing matters than a silly award”, said one citizen.
