Mauro Bonomi reels off in celebration as his header flys past a despairing Luca Mondini in the Roma goal. Bonomi,

Legoland United's win sees the
club pick up a cheque for £2.5m from Mr Fifa and his LFA buddies.

The Legoland United juggernaut marched onwards today with an awe-inspiring display of attacking football at the King David Stadium securing a second consecutive LFA Cup title for the Reds. The 2-1 win over Roma saw Legoland United become the first ever Legoland club to pull off the domestic treble, having already won the Derby Cup and Serie A titles this term.
Taking the lead after just 2 minutes, United’s Leper, undoubtedly the star player of the season, finished off an remarkable run that saw the minifig beat 5 Roma players before firing home past Luca Mondini in the Roma goal. The effort, possibly the goal of the season, epitomised the attacking and unpredictable talent at the disposal of the Serie A champions this season and sent yet another warning to their challengers in the upcoming campaign.
Yet Roma did not give up. The Castleland club had brought more fans to Linden than United and were not going to capitulate without a fight. Simone Perrotta’s corner kick was volleyed home by Ludovic Giuly restoring parity in the 9th minute and sending the Roma faithful into ecstasy. Unfortunately for them their joy would not last long as playing in his last ever game before hanging up his boots, Mauro Bonomi, United’s 36 year old veteran defender, settled the match minutes later. Rising highest to latch on to a cross from Iván De la Peña, Bonomi headed perfectly past a despairing Mondini. The strike, Bonomi’s first of the season, was a perfect send-off for the minifig that has played a pivotal role for the club since joining in 1996.
Although the score remained unchanged for the next 75 minutes, Legoland United came closest to adding to their tally on numerous occasions, the best chances falling the way of Leper, Christy, Robert Pires and Alex Taribello. Roma’s sole clear-cut goal scoring opportunity fell the way of Mirko Vucinic but the minifig saw his shot from 8 yards go terribly wide.
