A badly disfigured corpse believed to be that of former Minister for Justice Mr Captous Criminous has been uncovered by the Empire Police this evening in the Figland region of the Castleland Autonomous Province. The body was found dumped on the side of the main road to the provincial capital Rome with gunshot wounds to the head.

Commenting at the scene, Empire Police chief Biggus Piggus said that it was his view that the victim had likely been killed at the site where the body was discovered. “We have found marks in the earth around the dead minifig that suggest there may have been a struggle there. Spent Kalashnikov cartridges likely to have been fired from the murder weapon have also being uncovered”.

Mr Criminous was seized by Al-Kyeda militants while on his way from the capital to the Castleland city of Tricathan after an attack on his entourage in Figland on Friday. The politician's 3 minifig escort are as yet unaccounted for. The group had warned the Government of Legoland that the minister would be executed if the ban on God was not lifted by Sunday. With Emperor David rejecting to even consider the idea of reinstating the worship of God as a legal past-time, the odds were stacked against Mr Criminous.

Meanwhile the STAMPA secret police have raided slums in the Castleland capital of Ancient Rome and confirmed the arrests of 5 minifigs and the seizure of over a dozen weapons. City mayor Julius Cesarus hit out at the raid by STAMPA officers saying the central government were "paranoid" with Castlelanders holding arms stressing that the Castleland Autonomous Province had a more relaxed view on weapon ownership than other areas in the country where the possession of any weapon is typically a serious illegal offence.
