Union and RPs top
Claremont Round Plates's 3-0 defeat of Amateurs Union sees both clubs now share top spot in the NHL.
Chasing pack Arragon Wings, Lucky Strikers and Medalin Blue Jays all lie in joint third place, a single
point adrift of the league leaders.
Struggling pork chops, the Pigs, have smashed their club record signing by landing Bulls' star and the league's
current top striker, Wook-Jin You, for a massive £18m. The deal smashes the previous record of £9m paid out for Wayne Rooney
in 2008. The Pigs have also secured Republic star Marco Santana for £7m in a bid to reverese the club's fortunes.
Riot pigs won't stop Pigs rioting
The Empire Police Officer Union have stated that their members in the riot police "will not interfere nor clamp down on" fans of the Inter Police football club should they
riot in protest at the club's mismanagement, as is expected. Fans of Inter Police are uniquely police officers but impatience and anger among the rank and file is not unheard of.
Celades replaced by Villas-Boas
Struggling Serie A outfit Verdy have confirmed that the club has fired manager Albert Celades who earned the Twilight promotion to the top flight last season.
The club, owned by the king of Playmobil, were expected to at least compete this season but have had a disappointing start. Andre Villas-Boas has been named as
Celades' replacement.
Cartel to face current "chimps"
The draw for the Minifig Gold Cup quarter finals have been made with the Empire having 2 clubs in the last 8. Lion Lakers have been drawn against Vikingland's Viking Boat
whilst LFC will face reigning Cup champions Icarians of Eland, a land whom LFC have labelled a "full of monkeys". The ties, to be played in the new year, also sees clubs from
4 other nations clash.
Club by club season previews
Ajax Skerries
The Helmets will be looking for a repeat of last season's
upper mid-table position and will at a minimum have
Derby Cup qualification in their sights.
The club's massive debts have ensured a very quiet foray on the
transfer market and the team lacks strength in dept to launch a title challenge.
Star players worth keeping an eye on are powerful forward Asamoah
Gyan and ariel giant Markus Rosenberg.
Prediction: Upper mid-table
Atlas Bell
Securing and holding onto the services of Neven Subotic, Simone Pepe and
Luis Jimenez and the good timing sale of Jesper Blomqvist to Medalin White Sox
before his retirement has no doubt strengthed the Bell.
Nevertheless fans of the relative newcomers to top flight football
will probably be pleased enough if the team can retain its Serie A
status. Derby Cup qualification is possible but probably unlikely
this term.
Prediction: Lower mid-table
BFB
Heavy spenders BFB will be hoping
to finally land some silverware after coming home empty
handed in recent seasons. New minifigs Samuel Eto'o, Rafael
van der Vaart, Jermaine Defoe, Ronnie O'Brien and Richard Dunne add to each area of the field.
A title challenge is a certainty with a third consecutive Minifig Gold Cup place certainly a likely consolation prize if the elusive title isn't captured.
Prediction: Title challenge
Bulls
Back in Serie A after 2 seasons in B, a rebranded
Bulls are welcomed by most neutrals. Once a
mighty club feared by all, the Bulls have struggled on and
off the field since bankruptcy in 2008.
The team have snapped up a number of high profile players including
former Marino star Wook-Jin You and the KFL's top goal scorer Clay.
Keeping their heads above water will however be top priority for the Medalin based club.
Prediction: Relegation battle
Cup specialists Castleland United will be hoping to add
some silverware to their trophy cabinet yet their Serie A
status remains under threat. The Shields lost star forward
on the eve of the season to Inter Balen and overall the team severely
lacks strength in dept. This trait may well see the club struggle this
season however it must be acknowledged that the team over the
recent campaigns have earned a reputation for overachieving.
Have they over-stayed their welcome? Time will tell.
Prediction: Lower mid-table
Celebs
The Slobs are back. Three times Serie A winners, the Celebs
are the Empire's third most successful club. Relegation two
seasons ago came as a huge shock and so to did failure to
earn immediate promotion. Mr Prints' millions have however enabled
the team bring in a host of new names including Dimitar Berbatov,
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Roman Pavlyuchenko.
Pre-season friendlies indicate the team has an outside chance of
challenging for a Gold Cup space but top half finish more likely.
Prediction: Upper mid-table
Emperor Eagles
The Medina based club will be hoping that their Summer acquisitions
have what it takes to challenge for a Derby Cup place.
Finishing the season in 12th place last term, the Eagles missed
out on a spot in the Empire's second, and oldest, domestic cup competition.
The cheque book came out in May with the club landing a host of
new names including Sergi Busquets, Alberto Gilardino and Masashi
Oguro. Whether they will do any better than last season's flops
remains to be seen.
Prediction: Lower mid-table
Inter Balen
Despite the shock sale of Samuel Eto'o, the club's top scorer
last season, to title rivals BFB, Inter Balen's active owner
Alan McManus has not rested on his laurels. A host of new
faces will line-out for last term's 5th placed team with the new names
including Mario Gomez, Lucas Podolski, Marcelo and Rafael.
The Serpents have impressed in pre-season friendlies with wins over
the Celebs and Republic recorded. Inter fans can be hopeful of seeing their side set a new club record finish in this campaign.
Prediction: Title challenge
